Welcome to the Home Place

the home placeFrom the moment you enter the gate of roses, you’ll be excited by the sounds of nature and the beauty around you. Instantly you’ll hear the trickling of waterfalls as you round the curve of glorious shades of green and pink in the hostas, azaleas, mountain laurel and plush greenery as far as the eye can see.

The beauty of the woodlands is surrounding “The Home Place” covered with an abundance of hardwoods, pines and shrubs in each venue you see.

The sounds of nature outweigh the curves of the landscape by creeping through the way to the lake with a fountain in the center and three new waterfalls on the opposite side. A covered bridge is the center of the walkway to the other side of the lake.

The home place“The Home Place” itself is the first building you’ll see as you approach the central focus o f the property. When you see it from the viewpoint of the drive, it will make you realize exactly why C.J. Dodd is so proud of this property. His mother, Mrs. Ethel Dodd who will be 94 years old this year, raised 14 children and 11 of them in this home, where they were sharecroppers. When the property became available for purchase, C.J. bought it and the restoration began.

Usage for the property range from hot dog and hamburger cookouts around the fire pit and stone grill to the most elaborate of weddings and receptions. Photos taken before a prom are a must and family and church events are many.

Once you’ve seen and heard this call of nature, you will want to be here for whatever occasion. There is a bath house, a new 3,000 square foot pavilion and a cabin to rent for your family’s relaxing weekend away.

All in all, there are too many things to list. A brochure cannot do “The Home Place” justice. Come and see for yourself.
